You might just want to sit and read a book while you are here but We're often asked for recommendations and things to do while you are staying with us so here are a few ideas....
Walking - We aren't far from the glorious Offas Dyke It's a National Trail and runs through the Welsh Marches. There are also the beautiful Shropshire Hills - part of which is owned and managed by the National Trust at Carding Mill Valley
If you like a National Trust property (who doesn't love their cake!) then we have three to choose from within easy reach - the grand Berrington Hall is the closest - it's the last garden and parkland designed by Capability Brown. Just up the road from there is Croft Castle with it glorious views and great walks. Closer to Hereford is The Weir Garden. On sunny days you can relax on a deckchair next to the river. Heaven!
Herefordshire is full of amazing food producers - we are the home of cider (don't tell Somerset) and lots of them have shops and tasting bars on site. Check out the Cider Route website or just pop along to our nearest place at Newton Court There is also the fabulous Hereford Indie Food over the August Bank Holiday weekend - they showcase some of the best, local chefs, restaurants and bars in one spot! Just over the border into Shropshire is the famous Ludlow Food Festival Its always being voted one of the best in the country.
If books and art are your thing, Hay Literary Festival is a must! An entire week of talks and shows and food and books. It's a brilliant, child friendly place to visit.
Spend the day messing about on the river near Glasbury with River Wye Canoeing or Canoe the Wye or rent a bicycle from Wheely Wonderful and see Ludlow and it's surrounds on two wheels instead of four. They are really helpful with routes and advice too.
A few places to visit for advice on things to do - we love Liz and her team at Rural Concierge/The Hereford Tourism Hub or Leominster Tourist Info. And last, but by no means least, if you would like to have a guided walk across any part of Hereford or the Shropshire Hills with the very knowlegable Rob then you can find out more at Exploring Mid Wales
